Your Child’s Culture and Health

The more we know, the healthier your child can be.

We are now improving our programs to be sure you and your child have the information that is best for you. A person’s genes and culture can make them more likely than other people to have a disease like asthma or diabetes. To do this, we need to know more about your child.

Soon we will begin asking for your child’s race, ethnicity, and the written and spoken language you prefer. This information will not be shared with anyone, except your child’s doctors. They also need to know your child better.

If you help us learn more about your child, we can help your child get the care they need to find diseases early. This will help you and your child take control or cure these diseases.

You do not need to share this information. But please consider helping us give your child better health care. You do not have to answer these questions. But, if you do, your answers will help us make sure that your child gets good care.

Your child’s information will stay private. We will only share it with your child’s doctor and other healthcare providers. For more information about how your child’s race, ethnicity and language information is protected and stays private, please read the privacy protections for Enrollees' race, ethnicity and language data.
